2.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account, complete your profile, or interact with our Service, we may collect:

Account Information: Email address, display name, and password (managed securely through our authentication provider).
Credit Profile Data: Self-reported credit score range, credit history age, credit utilization range, late payment history, collections status, and state of residence — all provided during onboarding.
Financial Goals: Your selected financial objective (e.g., building credit, buying a home, buying a car, travel rewards, improving score, or establishing business credit).
Preferences: Preferred language, reward preferences, notification settings, and learning progress.
Communications: Any messages you send to our AI Coach feature, support inquiries, or feedback you submit.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access our Service, we may automatically collect:

Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the platform, click patterns, and interaction with educational content.
Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and IP address.
Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze trends, administer the site, and gather demographic information. See Section 7 (Cookies) for details.

2.3 Information from Third Parties

Payment Processor (Stripe): When you subscribe to VenturePath Pro, your payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not collect, store, or have access to your full credit card number, bank account details, or other sensitive payment information. Stripe provides us only with a transaction confirmation, subscription status, and the last four digits of your card for display purposes.
Affiliate Partners: When you click on a credit card recommendation link, you may be redirected to a third-party financial institution's website. We may receive confirmation of whether an application was submitted, but we do not receive your application details, Social Security number, or the outcome of any credit decision.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

Providing the Service: To create and manage your account, deliver personalized credit education content, power the AI Coach feature, generate card recommendations based on your credit profile, and track your learning progress.
Personalization: To tailor educational content, credit card recommendations, Sprint challenges, and Simulation scenarios to your financial situation and goals.
Communication: To send you account-related notifications, learning reminders, weekly progress reports, and promotional messages about VenturePath features (you may opt out of non-essential communications at any time).
Payment Processing: To process your VenturePath Pro subscription through Stripe and manage your subscription status.
Analytics and Improvement: To understand how users interact with our Platform, identify areas for improvement, and develop new features.
Security and Compliance: To detect and prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers (Subprocessors): We share data with the following trusted third-party service providers. Each is contractually required to process your data only to provide services to us.
- Anthropic, PBC — AI language model provider powering the Coach feature and credit report parsing.
- Stripe, Inc. — Payment processing and subscription management.
- Resend, Inc. — Transactional and lifecycle email delivery.
- Lovable Cloud / Supabase — Application hosting and database infrastructure.
- PostHog, Inc. — Product analytics (anonymized usage events).
- Sentry, Inc. — Error monitoring (no PII sent).
Affiliate Partners: When you click on a credit card recommendation link, the affiliate network or card issuer may receive a referral identifier that connects your click to VenturePath. They do not receive your VenturePath profile data, credit score range, or other personal information from us.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

5. AI Coach and Data Processing

VenturePath's AI Coach feature is powered by AI language models. When you interact with the AI Coach:

Your messages and relevant profile context (such as your credit score range and financial goals) are sent to the AI provider's API to generate personalized responses.
We do not send your email address, password, payment information, or other identifying information to the AI provider.
The AI provider processes this data in accordance with their privacy policy and data processing agreements. They do not use your data to train their AI models when accessed through their API.
Credit Report PDF: If you upload a credit report PDF using the Credit Report Analyzer feature, that file is transmitted to Anthropic's API solely for parsing and is not stored on our servers. It is discarded immediately after the analysis response is received. The extracted results (score ranges, account summaries) are saved to your account.
AI Coach conversation history is stored in your VenturePath account and is accessible only to you.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes.

Usage data and anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of cookies:

Essential Cookies: Required for the Platform to function properly (e.g., authentication session, security tokens). These cannot be disabled.
Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how users interact with our Platform (e.g., pages visited, features used). These cookies collect anonymized data.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.

Deletion: You may delete your account and all associated data at any time using the Delete Account option in your Settings page. This immediately purges your credit data, conversation history, and profile. You may also contact us at the email below for assistance.
Opt-Out of Communications: You may opt out of non-essential emails through your Profile notification settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any email.

For California Residents (CCPA):

You have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
You have the right to request deletion of your personal information.
You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information.
You have the right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.

For Users in Other Jurisdictions:

If you are located in a jurisdiction with additional privacy rights (such as the European Economic Area under GDPR), please contact us to exercise your rights. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

VenturePath is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
