I'm Andrey Kuzmin, the founder of VenturePath.

I grew up in the U.S., turned 18, and opened my first credit card — like most people, with no real idea what it was or why it mattered. I didn't pay attention to it. That cost me.

At 20, I went to buy my first car and hit a wall I never saw coming: my credit history. Bank after bank turned me down. By the time I was done, I'd racked up over 120 hard inquiries and a credit score stuck around 600. I barely got that first car — $15k, with a 70% down payment just to get approved.

That was the moment I started actually learning how credit history and scores work. I'd already lost years — but I realized it's never too late to start. I began building on purpose: opening the right accounts, paying everything on time, taking the offers that made sense, using the points, saving money along the way. Today my score is 830, and I can finance just about any car at a low rate — the opposite of where I started.

I learned how unforgiving the system is, too: one of my payments slipped into collections, and even after I paid it off, it dragged on my report for five years before it finally fell away.

Here's what bothered me most: there's almost no clear, honest information online about how to actually use credit and build your history the right way. Most people in the U.S. — not just immigrants — never learn it, and they lose real money because of it. I built VenturePath so the next person doesn't have to learn it the way I did: by making every mistake first.
