FICO’s factor weights, as FICO’s rewritten page gives them

In October 2026, FICO rewrote its myFICO page on what goes into a FICO Score. The weights stayed the same — payment history 35%, amounts owed 30%, length of credit history 15%, new credit 10% and credit mix 10% — but the sentence these pages relied on is gone; the page still says the importance of these categories may vary from one person to another. The rewritten page also names one exception to the rule that a FICO Score is calculated only from your credit report: the UltraFICO Score, which considers bank account data you choose to share; the lesson “The Score Doesn’t Measure What You Think” names it too. Where these pages relied on the sentence that is gone, they now give the weights as FICO’s published weights. Some lessons in Modules 02, 03 and 06 were edited the same way.
The ITIN and no-SSN guides, the ITIN glossary term and the ITIN / No-SSN Card Eligibility Checker name a second credit union again, with the date of its own account agreement (revised July 1, 2025; read October 11, 2026), which lists an ITIN among the numbers it asks for to open interest-bearing accounts.
Utilization guide: the title names the target we teach, not an “ideal ratio”

The title and description of the credit utilization guide promised “the ideal ratio”, though the guide teaches one target: under 10% on each card and overall. They now speak of that target instead, and so does the guide’s line in the guides list and on the home page.

The answer to “How do I get an ITIN?” names the IRS page it comes from and that page’s date; the Zolve example in the answer on credit built with an ITIN names Zolve’s help center and the day we read it; Self-Help Credit Union’s row, re-checked October 11, 2026, cites its account agreement and its card application instead of its membership application (cited in our August 30, 2026 check), which is no longer available.
New section “If you were denied”: what a lender’s notice must tell you

The guide to building credit from scratch had nothing on what to do after a denied application. It now has a last section, “If you were denied”, and a matching FAQ answer. The section explains what the lender’s notice must tell you under Regulation B and the Fair Credit Reporting Act: the specific reasons or how to get them; if your credit report was used, the credit bureau that supplied it; if a credit score was used, that score and the key factors that hurt it. It also explains how to get a free copy of that report and how to dispute errors in it for free. Source: CFPB, What can I do if my credit application was denied because of my credit report? Those promises and predictions are gone: what happens depends on your whole credit file and on each lender’s or card issuer’s own decision.
These pages gave FICO’s factor weights, such as payment history 35% and amounts owed 30%, as fixed shares of every score.
These pages said that scoring models reward being an authorized user on the card of someone you have a genuine relationship with, that people who are added often see a meaningful jump, or that scoring models were updated to detect unrelated authorized-user accounts. They now say what myFICO says: in recent versions of the FICO Score, authorized-user accounts have less impact than accounts in your own name. A lesson in Module 08 was edited the same way.
Some pages described these differently from the CFPB, the FTC or the law. They now say that you can dispute an error for free with each credit bureau that shows it and with the company that reported it; that the bureau where you place a fraud alert must tell the other two; that card companies don’t have to offer a grace period, but by law your bill must be mailed or delivered at least 21 days before the due date; and that not every lender reports to all three bureaus, so ask first.

Module 00, “The $250K Wake-Up Call”, is now “The Credit Wake-Up Call”: the $250K figure came from a lifetime-cost line that the first lesson no longer has. The lesson “Zero to 700: The US Credit Guide Nobody Gave You” is now “Starting From Zero: The US Credit Guide Nobody Gave You”, so its title no longer names a score as the outcome. The lesson’s address stays the same, and three guides link to it under its new name.
